Art Project #4

The theme of my art project is based on war and the title of my art work is called "Art at War" Here are the steps that lead me to my finish art piece. 1. I chose a theme that I love and I didnt want to explore a type of style of art like cubism or surrealism or study one specific artists artworks. I chose the theme of war because not necessarily am I huge fan of history but I always wanted to be a marine and we dont know what war is actually like if we arent an enlisted soldier so we depict what war is like through images such as real photographs and paintings. I chose the theme of war to explore how "war" has changed throughout history. How "war" has become advanced. 2. I then wrote down all of the most important battles or wars fought through out history that were considered a main event. 3. I then searched each battle or war under google images for painting that would best represent what war looked like at the time (this allows for you to see the development of war, ex: the weapons used, the soldiers clothing, their form of transportation, etc.) 4.I then put these battles or wars into time line sequential order 5. I made sure that each painting I found met all of the requirements; artist, medium, yr, title etc. 6. For each I then gave an explanation or reasoning as to why I chose this specific battle or war. What were the facts that made it an important event in history. 7. Then for each I gave a description whith some (very little) background knowledge of the paintings history. I described only what I saw in the painting (instead of saying i see a soldier fighting with another soldier, i had described the union in the blue jacket fighting with a soldier holding his confederate flag) - there is no opinion included 8. I then used the formal art analysis to depict the principles and elements of each painting. 9. It was difficult for my to give my own personal interpretation on some of these pieces of art work because its not really an opinionated topic. Especially when you see a painting of a war that took placed hundreds of years ago because I was not around I just believe what I see and believe thats what war really appeared as. 10. I then finished by watching the instructed films and doing the discussion on them I chose this particular background for my powerpoint slideshow because it has a tattered grungy look to it. It has a sort outdated and dark feel to it and most of the pictures I applied to this project are old historical events. I chose the font that I did because it gave to me resembled old fashion writing or the writing I would see in a newspaper.
