Questions and Topics for Your Blog Posting: 1. Explain why you selected each of the TWO videos you choose from the selection listed above. I honestly chose the first two videos just at random there was no particular reasoning 2. For each video list/discuss the key concepts you learned. How do the videos relate to the readings in the text? The reading did a basic understanding of Picasso and Matisses lives. Matisse kept away from wars and politics and it discussed how he loved the adventure of the human body (mostly women) and domestic interior. It discussed how his wife was involved in helping him create his master pieces and how when he had no choice but to stray away from his usual techniques, he took up creating art with cut up paper. Picasso was said to be a woman lover because he loved all sorts of women. The mention of the surrealist Salvador Dali’s The Persistence of Memory. 3. What is your opinion of the films? How do they add depth to understanding of the readings and art concepts? I liked the first film on Picasso and Matisse because it gave a broader and brighter understanding behind their travels, their relationships (some serious women lovers) and behind their art work. I did not know about Picassos depression and suicidal emotions and you sometimes cant tell with the vibrant works he did at the time. Although some were deep, dark and saddened as well. The Persistence of Memory art work was described it greater depth what it symbolized and represented.
